Bodega A Coroa

Adega A Coroa is the only winery in the D. O. Valdeorras that elaborates the wine Godello coming from plots with controlled production, according to information given by the C.R.D.O. Valdeorras for the campaign 2010/2011.

The Consejo Regualdor establishes that in the vineyards of controlled production the maximum admitted production will be of 8.000 kg of the grape godello per hectare.

In Adega A Coroa we are sure that the quality of a great wine is born in the vineyard. According to this philosophy, we elaborate our wines only with grapes coming from our own vines, planted, pruned and harvested by us. We are sure that this one is the best way of assuring the quality of our wines.

We have 12 hectares of own vineyard with controlled production in A Rúa de Valdeorras (Ourense), where we have a few special orographical and climatic conditions for the cultivation of vineyards and the production of a great wine like A Coroa. Every vine produces a maximum of 2,5 kg of grape.

The quality control begins in the vineyard and finishes when the wine comes to the consumer. The aim is to obtain the most efficient use of the resources we have (grapes, facilities and staff) to obtain a wine of excellent quality. The philosophy of the winery is that every employee is an agent of the quality control in the area of his/her specific obligations.

With an elegant viticulture, the quality of our grapes, the constant selection, a low performance of the vineyard and a careful process of production, we obtain an extraordinary wine, which has been recognized in the different contests (national and international) with a total of 46 prizes and diplomas, being the last one the valued Gold Baco 2010 granted by the sommeliers as the best white wine in Spain in its speciality.

The hard work made during the 8 years of life of the winery is being recognized by our customers due to the excellent relation quality - price, we were run out of stock in the winery in the last two years before starting to commercialize the following vintage ( 2010 vintage will be released at the middle of next May). The most representative information is:

1. The 2009 vintage rose up to 65.000 bottles (18 % more than in 2008).

2. The wine exported to 11 countries represented the 17 % of the sales of the crop of 2009 vintage.
